Son Lux, 5/19/2018, Mohawk, Austin, Photos – Write-up

Written James ATX and Photos by Bang Ho Son Lux is an enigma in this world of cookie cutter pop groups; they create deep, dynamic and dreamy electro pop. The three piece of Ryan Lott, Rafiq Bhatia, and Ian Chang filled the sold out venue with such robust sound, you’d swear there were more musicians on…

Hurray for the Riff Raff and Waxahatchee, 4/28/2018, Levitation, Mohawk, Austin, Photos – Write-up

The closing night of Levitation at the Mohawk was a perfect night of female empowerment with Hurray for the Riff Raff and Waxahatchee on the bill.  Hurray for the Riff Raff’s Alynda Segarra masterfully blends her smooth crooning melodies with calls to address the myriad of ailments that plague the fabric of our society.  Waxahatchee is the solo project of Katie Crutchfield joined by her sister Allison and band. There were countless beautiful guitars on stage, with Allison on keys as well as joining on guitar depending on the song.  Katie ended the set alone on stage with an acoustic guitar singing the song Fade, as the lights fading nothing as the show ended.
